This module describes the role DSPs play in supporting their client’s health and wellness and the alignment of Special Olympics with the National Alliance for Direct Support Professionals (NADSP's) ethics and competencies for DSPs. It includes an overview of the resources available to DSPs through Special Olympics and how to connect.

This module defines and explains IDD, describes the unique healthcare and health promotion needs of people with IDD, discusses quality referrals and integration of people with IDD in the community, and reviews effective communication with people with IDD.

This module defines and explains IDD, defines mental health challenges, describes the intersection of IDD and mental health, and overviews the diagnosis and treatment process.
